What should happen when an indexed transcript changes?
Keep the existing passage cards, compare their recorded source digest and exact wording with the revised segment range, block stale passages from looking current, and require an explicit recapture that resets verification.
Preserve the earlier decision
Deleting every passage hides what changed. Retaining the old exact text and fingerprint makes the review task visible. Write the decision in plain language and retain the original source separately so the index can be audited against something outside the browser project.
Never repair silently
Even a punctuation correction may affect publication, searching, or attribution. Let the user confirm the current range. Review the result as a retrieval aid rather than a conclusion. Human-authored fields must remain visibly distinct from exact source-derived text.
Recheck media when relevant
A transcript revision can also signal timing or edit changes; media-checked state should not carry forward automatically. Carry the limitation into the frozen edition and passive handoff so a recipient can understand what was checked, what was not checked, and what remains their responsibility.
