How should speaker labels be reviewed in a transcript index?
Keep the exact imported label, link it to an explicit project speaker record, record a human-authored role or alias when useful, and avoid claiming that the software identified the voice or resolved identity.
Unknown is an honest state
A missing or ambiguous label should remain visible rather than being assigned to the most common speaker. Write the decision in plain language and retain the original source separately so the index can be audited against something outside the browser project.
Names can be sensitive
Exports may expose names, aliases, roles, and quotations. Review recipient authorization and handling instructions. Review the result as a retrieval aid rather than a conclusion. Human-authored fields must remain visibly distinct from exact source-derived text.
Changing labels does not change audio
A corrected project record improves navigation but does not modify the original transcript or prove the underlying speaker attribution. Carry the limitation into the frozen edition and passive handoff so a recipient can understand what was checked, what was not checked, and what remains their responsibility.
