What does a privacy-conscious interview indexing workflow include?
Use authorized local files, a no-account static tool with no third-party runtime calls, explicit browser-storage disclosure, session-only media, versioned checkpoints, passive exports, recipient review, and independent deletion and retention practices.
Minimize what leaves the device
Export only what the recipient needs, inspect every file, and remember that the full packet includes transcript text and project notes. Write the decision in plain language and retain the original source separately so the index can be audited against something outside the browser project.
Use the right device context
Shared computers, managed browsers, synced download folders, extensions, backups, and malware can defeat assumptions made by a local-only interface. Review the result as a retrieval aid rather than a conclusion. Human-authored fields must remain visibly distinct from exact source-derived text.
Avoid compliance claims
Architecture choices can reduce data flow, but only the project can assess laws, contracts, ethics, institutional policy, security controls, and participant expectations. Carry the limitation into the frozen edition and passive handoff so a recipient can understand what was checked, what was not checked, and what remains their responsibility.
