Listening field note

What does an interview passage workroom not prove?

It does not prove transcript accuracy, speaker identity, factual truth, consent, ownership, copyright status, privacy compliance, anonymization, quotation fairness, archival custody, accessibility, or permission to publish.

Exact text can still be wrong

The captured wording exactly reflects the imported segments. If the transcript is inaccurate, incomplete, or paired to the wrong media, the passage inherits that problem. Write the decision in plain language and retain the original source separately so the index can be audited against something outside the browser project.

Context is bounded

Before-and-after segments help retrieval but cannot establish full conversational, cultural, historical, or ethical context. Review the complete authorized source. Review the result as a retrieval aid rather than a conclusion. Human-authored fields must remain visibly distinct from exact source-derived text.

Human review remains accountable

Topics, summaries, destinations, access notes, and verification states are project records created by users, not conclusions produced or endorsed by the software. Carry the limitation into the frozen edition and passive handoff so a recipient can understand what was checked, what was not checked, and what remains their responsibility.
